Cancer is one of the most deadly and costly diseases in America. In 2010 there were an estimated 1.5 million people diagnosed with cancer and over 569 thousand deaths related to cancer. Of that number, over 10,500 people diagnosed were children and over 1,300 children died of cancer. Cancer is the second leading case of death in the United States, only behind heart disease.
